Recently I wrote about my new obsession with Fred Flar's Boombox! :) Well thank heavens for that lil boombox because one of the songs on Dj Crush's playlist [a.k.a Chris] is a song "Right as Rain" by Adele, a 19 year old Brit whose voice I am totally envious of... :) Listen to the radio version too! :)
Emily the girl who I have been babysitting since she was 7 and is now 14, [which basically makes me more of an adult companion rather than a babysitter] has one of the cutest little bedrooms...and in this cute bedroom of hers is a loft bed with a cute desk underneath. Above that desk on the wall is an even cuter bulletin board, and on that bulletin board is a "coupon" that I gave her TWO years ago for a homemade i-pod case. On the coupon it says "good after May 2006" that was because trying to do any side projects except for drawing while in school is sometimes nearly impossible... however 2006 summer came and went along with summer 2007...and now it is summer 2008!!! Emily has been sooo patient with waiting for this i-pod case of hers, and after seeing her carry it in the funniest and wackiest things ever I finally put all major projects aside yesterday and made an i-pod case that she loves and adores! Now I just need to go take my i-pods to the Apple store to get fixed and make one for myself... :-p I probably better write a coupon for myself actually and redeem it 4 years from now. But the thing that I thought was the cutest of all is how Emily has had that coupon tacked on her bulletin board this whole time, and ever so often patiently reminding me of its existence. :) KIDS ARE SO CUTE!!!
Real quick on how I made it :
I took one of my drawings from my sketchbook, scanned it onto my computer and printed it out on iron-on-transfer paper. where I then ironed that on heavy linen. I then glued the linen onto very thin leather with rubber cement, for stability since a circle and square will be cut out of it. [Rubber Cement and Leather make the bestest friends just you know! ] the back is the same template without the wholes.. cut two squares, one on each bottom corner. put right sides together and sew bottom and both sides, no need to sew corners, leave as is. Turn inside out and now ad a flap/cover if desired. :) Hopefully these instructions are somewhat understandable?
Started these yesterday...still a little bit unsure about the tables color, was thinking a nice mustard yellow would look good...we shall see.. :) next tackle is my closet. :/ Last week when flipping through this months issue of Domino, I read a really short but great article about one of Domino's columnists who was getting a wardrobe/closet makeover by two stylists-for-hire. Sooo good! They give great advice on how to manage a very chic wardrobe without tons of clothes and accessories. I really suggest reading that article titled "The Adventuress" on pg. 70 if you haven't already. I think it will be a great motivator for all those who constantly struggle with their wardrobe or keeping a neat and tidy closet [like myself] :-p
